Mayoral Breakfast Engagement with uMgungundlovu Business Sector
On the 20th of May 2022, the Mayor of the District Cllr Mzi Zuma, hosted a business breakfast meeting with business people from all the Local Municipalities within the district. This very successful event was held at the Golden Horse Casino and Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Speakers and Chief Whips from Local Municipalities and the District were in attendance, accompanied by their fellow councillors. Amakhosi were also represented. The Mayor was elated at such an opportunity to meet with the business sector saying “ We need business people to play their part in developing and growing the economy within the District. Government can only create an enabling environment for business do what they are best at, in order to create jobs”, said Nxamalala. He highlighted areas of the economy that had potential within the District, highlighting Agriculture, textile and Leather sectors, which needed to be revived. Zuma emphasised the importance of the manufacturing sector saying, “ We must decide if we want to be a consuming District or a manufacturing District”. He welcomed the commitments made by some businesses to help grow the economy and create jobs within the area jurisdiction of UMDM.

As a District Municipality, uMgungundlovu employs "appropriate, reasonable technical and organizational measures" designed to prevent both unlawful access and the loss or damage of personal information, as required by Section 18 of the POPIA.
